This is the first time the Rouge has been majority Counoise and it shows. The nose is perhaps a little more muted than past editions of this wine, but the palate bursts with a mouthful of ripe red summer berries. A subtle nose of red violet and lilac, and a sweet herbal note like marjoram or coriander belies what’s to come on the palate. Take a sip and enjoy a mouthful of ripe red summer berries- raspberry and strawberry and wineberries, oh my! That herbal component tags along too, the whole experience leaves a strawberry rhubarb pie sensation on the finish. A beguiling beauty, if only we made more!
