2021 Pinot Noir Reserve

This is another classic Unionville Pinot Noir. You’ll find layers of red berry fruit like Bing cherry and just-becoming-ripe raspberry, but it’s the grippy tannins that make me think ‘cranberry’ as the most overt fruit note. As usual there’s a woodiness or earthiness that I like to describe as root beer without the sugar. There’s an evocation of the forest floor here too- this wine reminds me of jumping in a pile of sweetly-scented maple leaves as a child. The acidity gives the bottle a nice freshness that allows this wine to be paired with a broad assortment of holiday foods. Try it with a turkey pot pie, or a shepherd’s pie with extra gravy. 12.5% abv.
