2022 Hunterdon Mistral Rouge

In the Southern Rhône, Counoise plays a complimentary role in many of the red blends. Here, we showcase this plucky variety that punches above its weight in hot, ripe vintages such as 2022. Syrah takes the back seat in this version of the Mistral Rouge, the first release of this blend in three years. The nose of fresh ripe red fruit can be smelled from distance, and it has the hallmark dusty/brambly character, iconic to our Rhône reds. On the palate- red fruit and dried roses. Terrific grippy tannins suggest this wine has years to age in your cellar, if you can manage to deny enjoying that long! Just 70 cases produced.
