2024 Hunterdon Mistral Blanc

This field blend from our Amwell Ridge Vineyard comprises Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, and Picpoul Blanc. Lemon candy sits on the top of the nose, complemented by subtle butterscotch and tangerine peel in the backdrop. The mouthfeel is smooth yet textural, balanced by both fresh and savory flavors. Picpoul brings the acidity, Viognier adds depth, while Marsanne and Roussanne provide the overall structure. The 2024 vintage gave us plenty of heat and sunshine with very little rainfall, which allowed us to ripen fruit and develop flavors to our liking. Picking the remaining Rhône white fruit left on the vines 2 to 3 weeks after previous picks concentrated sugars and flavors, making this field blend a powerhouse at 14% abv, but balanced by acidity and some skin contact time to introduce phenolic character. Enjoy with butter seared scallops on risotto and a roasted vegetable side dish.
